Death Is Not an Escape. Dead by Daylight is a multiplayer (4vs1) horror game where one player takes on the role of the savage Killer, and the other four players play as Survivors, trying to escape the Killer and avoid being caught, tortured and killed. Survivors play in third-person and have the advantage of better situational awareness.

In Dead by Daylight there are two different kinds of Totems: Dull and Hex Totems. Each serves a different function and can do different things. So, now that we know how many Totems there...

Totems are small, skull-decorated pillars that spawn randomly around the map. There are two types of totems: Dull Totems: These have no special effects and are basically free points for survivors to cleanse. Cleansing a dull totem awards survivors with 600 bloodpoints.

Dull Totems can always be found scattered throughout the trial area. Certain Killer Perks (called Hex Perks) activate Dull Totems and turn them into Hex Totems. Cleansing a Hex Totem deactivates its associated Hex Perk. All Totems grant blood points when they are cleansed. Dull Totems and Hex Totems differ in their appearance slightly.

Blue totems are buff totems related to "Boon: Name" perks that survivors have. Orange totems are hex totems related to "Hex: Name" perks that killers have. Non coloured totems are dull totems that can be turned into boon totems and have interactions with some hex totem perks. Hex totems take longer to bless than dull totems.

Here are the types of Boon Totems currently available in Dead by Daylight, each range and boost varies, depending on the perk level. Circle of Healing: The range for this totem is 28 meters. Any survivors standing within that range gain 100% boost to their healing speed and can heal themselves without the use of a med kit.

I'd like to bring this mechanic to Dead By Daylight. Let's make it so that the killer must set up his totems to the entity in set places around the map, delineated by a candle, or maybe an outline of a totem. The survivors can cleanse these totems just as they do now. Then, let's change the perks to work on a token basis, much like PWYF.

Get to Know the Map. Totems spawn randomly at the beginning of each Trial, just like Lockers, Generators, Chests, and Exit Gates. Each Trial location is chosen by The Entity and randomized ...

Hex Totems can affect the game for Survivors in a negative way, such as blocking off window vaults, preventing pallets from being pulled down, as well as making generators regress when you're not on them. So cleanse those Totems, cleanse those bones or be in for a world of hurt! For more articles like this, take a look at our Dead by Daylight page.

Gameplay Examples - YouTube. This guide I go over the new Small Game perk update and how to use it to find and cleanse totems quickly. This will be excellent for lower MMRs when NOED is ...
